In cooperation with Orlando Youth Alliance, Winter Park PRIDE Project, Inc. will be offering grants to support Winter Park youth in pursuit of their dreams. High School students living in Winter Park, FL (incorporated and unincorporated) are eligible to apply for one of three scholarships/grants being awarded in January 2022.
Application deadline is midnight, January 15, 2022.Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a student at Lake Howell High School, Winter Park High School, or Edgewater High School. One grant will be awarded at each school.
- Must live in Winter Park, Florida (incorporated and unincorporated, Winter Park mailing address is sufficient).
Membership in an LGBTQ+ inclusive organization is preferred. If you are an active member of any such organization, please be sure to mention it in your essay.
- Scholarship/Grant may be used for the purchase of educational materials, tuition, course or training expenses, assessment requirements, textbooks, transportation, or relevant equipment or tools. Recipient will be required to provide documentation supporting the purchase of items required.
- Scholarship/Grants are $500. All scholarship funds must be used within one year from the date received.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN, make sure you have the following information ready to upload.
- Copy of High School Identification
- Essay: At least two pages, name must appear on each page, double spaced, with a 12-point font. Two key topics must be addressed:
- This is who I am. For this portion of the essay, we want to learn who you are, what is important to you, the role you play in your environment (family, friends, school, organization, faith, work, etc.), and who or what you admire.
- This is what I will do with my grant and why. We would like to know how you will use the grant to grow as a person living into your truth and future. If it is for education, tell us about that. If it is for training, tell us about that. If it is for an experience, tell us about that. Keep in mind, we want to know how you will grow from this opportunity.
- One letter of recommendation from a faculty member, coach, school administrator, minister, counselor, or employer/supervisor. We will also accept a letter from a family member or friend who knows you well.
- Information about the company, school, program, or organization/association (if applicable) where funds will be spent.
