Winter Park PRIDE Project Grant Application

Winter Park PRIDE Project, Inc. will be offering $500 grants to support Winter Park youth and young adults in the pursuit of their dreams. Teens and young adults who live, work, or attend school in Winter Park, FL (incorporated and unincorporated) are eligible to apply for grants being awarded throughout the year.


Eligibility

While not required, membership in an LGBTQ+ inclusive organization or being an LGBTQ+ Ally is preferred. If you are an active member of such an organization—or if you identify as LGBTQ+ or an LGBTQ+ Ally—please include this in your essay.

Applicants must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Teens and young adults
  • Live, work, or study in Winter Park, Florida (incorporated or non-incorporated)
  • While attendance in school is not required, we would love to see applicants from Winter Park High School, Edgewater High School, Lake Howell High School, Valencia College, Rollins College, and Full Sail University apply.
  • We also encourage those who are pursuing trades, special training, or other endeavors – this is not limited to traditional schools.

Grant Usage

Grant funds may be used for:

  • Educational materials or textbooks
  • Tuition, course, or training expenses
  • Assessment or certification fees
  • Transportation
  • Relevant equipment, tools, or supplies

Before starting your application, please gather the following materials:

Identification

Provide one of the following:

  • Driver’s license

  • School ID

  • Another official document containing a photo and your full name

Essay

  • Minimum two pages, double-spaced, 12-point font

  • Your name must appear on each page

  • Address both topics below:

  1. This Is Who I Am – Share who you are, what matters to you, the roles you play (family, friends, school, work, organizations, faith), and who or what inspires you.

  2. This Is What I Will Do With My Grant and Why – Explain how this grant will help you grow and support your education, training, or personal development. Be specific about how the funds will be used.

Letter of Recommendation

A letter from one of the following:

  • Faculty member, coach, school administrator, minister, counselor, employer, or supervisor

  • A family member or close friend who knows you well (also acceptable)

Program or Organization Information

If applicable, include details about the company, school, program, or organization where the grant funds will be used.

4. Upload your essay here. 
  • Remember, your essay must be at least two pages, double spaced, with 12 point font.
  • Your name must appear on each page of your essay (it is a good idea to put it in the header or footer).
  • Two key topics must be addressed in your essay:
    • This is who I am. For this portion of the essay, we want to learn who you are, what is important to you, the role you play in your environment (family, friends, school, organization, faith, work, etc.), and who or what you admire.
    • This is what I will do with my grant and why.  We would like to know how you will use the grant to grow as a person living into your truth and future.  If it is for education, tell us about that.  If it is for training, tell us about that.  If it is for an experience, tell us about that.  Keep in mind, we want to know how you will grow from this.

5. Upload your letter of recommendation from a faculty member, coach, school administrator, minister, counselor, or employer/supervisor. We will also accept a letter from a family member or friend who knows you well.
